DuoPlus Cloud Phone: Frequently Asked Questions Explained

DuoPlus

DuoPlus runs Android on physical ARM servers rather than emulating a handset on your computer. Each instance carries an 8-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and boots Android 10, 11, 12 or 15 according to the vendor specification updated on 31 March 2026. No instance reaches the internet until a proxy is attached to it. The answers below cover performance, proxy configuration, billing arithmetic and the documented limits that usually surface only after the first accounts are already running.

What is a cloud phone and what can it be used for?

DuoPlus Cloud Phone is a real ARM phone that runs and stores data in the cloud. Each cloud phone has independent parameter information and uses proxy IP configuration to simulate real mobile devices in different regions. It can operate various social media platforms like TikTok and WhatsApp within the cloud phone. Common workloads include testing an app across regions and Android versions, checking localised builds, running agency work on client accounts where access has been granted, and separating work profiles from personal ones.

Which apps run on DuoPlus Cloud Phone?

Most apps distributed outside mainland China install and run normally. Two installation paths are available:

  1. Download apps such as TikTok from the cloud phone backend, which also supports bulk pre installation across a whole batch of devices.
  2. Sign in to Google Play inside the cloud phone, or upload an APK package directly and install it there.

DuoPlus

Two exclusions are stated in the DuoPlus help centre: mainland China apps are not supported, and there is no iOS product, so anything that ships only for iPhone cannot be tested here. Both limits are worth confirming against your app list before committing to a fleet.

What is the configuration of the cloud phone?

The cloud phone is configured with an 8-core CPU, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The system can run Android 10, 11, 12 or 15. Android 15 reached general availability in September 2024, and Android 17 became the stable release on 16 June 2026, so the newest image on offer sits two major versions behind current retail handsets. That matters for apps that read the build fingerprint or target a recent API level, and it is the most common complaint left in DuoPlus reviews on G2, where users ask for more Android versions.

How strong is DuoPlus risk control?

No cloud phone vendor can promise that accounts survive, and DuoPlus publishes no detection or survival figures for any platform. What it does claim is a device layer built on real ARM silicon, with per instance IMEI, model, locale, GPS and SIM data drawn from 150 or more countries. Whether that holds depends on the signals the device layer cannot control, mainly the reputation of the proxy IP and the behaviour of the account. TikTok removed 86,288,705 fake accounts in the first quarter of 2026, roughly 958,000 a day.

Can the cloud phone send SMS or make calls?

SMS reception is now possible on part of the fleet, which changes the answer this article previously gave. The SIM generated inside a cloud phone is still simulated, so voice calls, eSIM and binding your own number remain unavailable. The current help centre entry, updated on 31 March 2026, adds one exception: buy a Cloud Number, bind it to a device, and verification codes arrive inside the cloud phone. Support is limited to Android 12A and Android 15, so registration flows have to be planned around those two images.

What practical functions does DuoPlus have?

  • Bulk app management. Install, uninstall, open and restart apps across many devices at once.
  • App pre installation. Newly purchased cloud phones in the team install the chosen apps on first boot or after a one click device reset.
  • Android version switching. Move an existing instance between the available system images.
  • Live streaming. Real person broadcasts and 24 hour unattended streaming across multiple lines.
  • One click ROOT. Unlocks permissions that normal Android profiles block.
  • Team sharing. Invite members, or hand over a link and password so an external user can operate a device without a DuoPlus account.

Unattended live streaming carries the highest enforcement risk of the six features above. TikTok reported a record LIVE suspension rate of 2.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, suspending 50,791,858 sessions and issuing warnings or demonetisation on 58,207,389 more. Almost 22 million creators were warned or demonetised in the same quarter, and 4,171,677 sessions came back after review, so roughly one suspension in twelve was overturned. Anyone planning round the clock broadcasts should budget for that rate rather than assume uptime equals revenue.

Which video formats play inside the cloud phone?

H.265 video will not play on the default cloud phone player, and this catches out anyone filming on an iPhone. The DuoPlus TikTok help page states that HEVC and H.265 are unsupported and that clips must be encoded to H.264 before upload. iOS records in HEVC by default, so a transcoding step belongs in the pipeline before files reach the device. Worth noting that this page carries a last modified date of 9 July 2024, while the general FAQ was refreshed in March 2026.

Cloud phone proxy

Does the cloud phone have a network? Why configure a proxy?

The cloud phone is a virtual device with no network of its own, so it stays offline and shows Proxy not configured until a proxy is attached. DuoPlus recommends mapping one proxy to one device, which means the proxy bill scales linearly with the number of instances and often exceeds the cost of the devices themselves. The vendor points to residential and ISP proxies as the type that behaves best for social platforms. The proxy does three jobs:

  1. Provides the network. The proxy is the bandwidth the cloud phone uses to reach the internet.
  2. Maintains anonymity. It keeps the real IP address out of the connection.
  3. Simulates a real phone. SIM, base station and GPS data are generated from the geographical location of the proxy IP.

Why does the proxy check fail?

Proxy check failures come down to four causes in most cases:

  1. The proxy credentials, host or port were entered incorrectly.
  2. The region of the proxy is not supported by the cloud phone.
  3. A local domain network type proxy was configured, which the device cannot route through.
  4. The proxy provider requires the DuoPlus server address on an IP whitelist.

The whitelist case is the one that looks like a broken proxy but is not. The same credentials work everywhere else and fail only inside the cloud phone until the address is authorised, so check the whitelist before asking the provider to replace the IP.

Cloud phone usage

How is the cost of a cloud phone calculated?

Billing splits into two lines: renting the device and paying for the compute that boots it. Computing power is the CPU and memory consumed while an instance is running, claimed at power on and released at power off. Published rates on the DuoPlus pricing page as of August 2026 are 0.085 US dollars per device per month at the deepest volume discount, 0.00348 dollars per minute of temporary startup, and 11.54 dollars per month for unlimited startup on one device. New accounts get one cloud phone for 30 days plus 30 minutes of startup time.

Which billing mode works out cheaper?

The break even point sits at about 110 minutes of runtime per device per day. Divide the 11.54 dollar monthly subscription by the 0.00348 per minute rate and you get 3,316 minutes a month, which is where unlimited startup stops being more expensive than paying by the minute. One caveat: the FAQ on the DuoPlus cloud phone product page quotes 0.0045 per minute with a 200 minute daily cap, 29 per cent above the pricing page. Confirm the live rate in the dashboard before sizing a fleet.

How does that compare with a mainstream device cloud?

Per minute, DuoPlus costs roughly 49 times less than AWS Device Farm, which charges 0.17 dollars per device minute or 250 dollars a month for an unmetered slot. The two products solve different problems. Device Farm allocates real physical handsets for QA and certification, DuoPlus allocates virtualised ARM instances with 4 GB of RAM and a simulated camera rather than physical optics. On the monthly plans the gap narrows to about 22 times, 11.54 dollars against 250 dollars for one always available device.

Can the cloud phone only be used on a computer?

Browser access works from PC, tablet and mobile, and a desktop client is available as an alternative. The help centre recommends a Chromium based browser for the control panel, so non Chromium browsers are the first thing to check when the console renders badly. Nothing needs to be installed for basic operation, which is the practical difference from a local emulator that ties the whole fleet to one workstation and its hardware.

Will each cloud phone be linked?

Device level isolation is real, platform level linkage is a separate question. Each instance holds its own storage, identifiers and hardware parameters, so two instances do not share device fingerprints. Platforms also correlate accounts by IP address, payment details, contact data and behavioural patterns, none of which the cloud phone controls. That is why the one proxy per device rule matters more than the device layer itself. Two instances behind the same IP look like two accounts on one connection regardless of how distinct their fingerprints are.

What batch operations does DuoPlus support?

Batch controls cover the operations that consume the most time at scale. The platform supports:

  1. Bulk download and pre installation of apps across a whole group of devices.
  2. Bulk file upload to multiple instances at once.
  3. Bulk power on, power off and restart from the dashboard.
  4. Scheduled and looped automation tasks built in the RPA editor.

An API and ADB access sit behind the same functions, documented in the DuoPlus API reference. That is the route to take when the fleet is driven from your own tooling rather than the web console, and it is also how device parameters get modified in bulk.

Will videos posted from a cloud phone get views on TikTok?

Distribution depends on content quality, account history and IP reputation, and no infrastructure vendor can influence the ranking system. TikTok publishes the enforcement side of this every quarter: 184,012,576 videos removed globally in the first quarter of 2026, or 0.5 per cent of uploads, with 99.3 per cent caught before a user report and 8,838,710 restored on review. Roughly one removal in twenty is reversed. Read that as the baseline error rate of automated moderation rather than as an appeal strategy.

What does TikTok actually allow?

Automation tools and ban evasion are prohibited outright, and this sets the boundary for any cloud phone setup. The TikTok integrity and authenticity policy states that scripts and tools designed to bypass its systems can trigger content removal and account bans, and that a restricted or banned account may not be replaced with another to get around the enforcement. Inflated likes and followers are stripped when detected. Legitimate uses of cloud devices, including regional testing and authorised agency access, sit outside that prohibition.

Is a fleet of storefronts worth building on TikTok Shop?

Volume of storefronts correlates poorly with revenue on TikTok Shop, which is worth knowing before scaling a fleet. Momentum Works counted 803,500 US stores in 2025 against 15.1 billion dollars of US GMV, up 68 per cent year on year. More than half of those stores recorded no sales at all, and just over 2,000 passed a million dollars, which is 0.25 per cent of the total. The channel grew, the median seller did not.

What does error 2004 mean?

Error 2004 means the connection to the cloud phone dropped, and it points to the network rather than the device. Work through these steps:

  1. Reconnect from the console and wait for the session to re establish.
  2. Switch to a different line in the route selection menu.
  3. If your local connection is a mainland China network, the default line cannot be used, so select an overseas node instead.
  4. Contact support with the session timestamp if the error repeats on more than one line.

Why does the cloud phone feel laggy?

Lag has two separate causes, and the fix differs depending on which one you have. Interface lag, meaning delayed taps and slow screen redraw, tracks the quality of your own connection to the DuoPlus server. Page and app loading lag tracks the proxy instead. Lowering the stream quality in the console reduces bandwidth demand on the first problem and does nothing for the second. If pages stay slow at the lowest quality setting, the proxy is the bottleneck, not the video stream.

Two costs decide whether a DuoPlus fleet makes sense, and neither is the device price. The first is proxies, one per instance by the vendor own recommendation, billed separately and usually the larger line. The second is content production, since TikTok removed 86 million fake accounts in a single quarter and reversed only 4.8 per cent of video takedowns on review. Cheap devices scale easily. Clean IPs and original content do not, and that is where the budget goes.
